Before you open your door…
Ask for City of Regina Identification

Monday March 20th 2006 - Public Service Announcement

City employees work throughout the community; however, they sometimes have to enter your yard or dwelling to do their work. They may visit your home for assessment purposes, to repair or install water meters, conduct building or fire inspections, or for other necessary work.

If someone is at your door saying they’re from the City, ask for their City of Regina identification before you let them in. ALL City of Regina employees in these departments
carry a photo identity card stating their name, department and employee number.

Representatives of all public utilities — gas, electric power, cable TV, and water — also carry photo ID. Ask to see it. It’s the best way to be safe and protect yourself, your family and your property. If the person at the door refuses to produce his or her photo ID, or acts in a suspicious manner, consider calling the Regina Police Service at 777-6500 to make
a report for informational purposes.

For more information, call 777-7000.

Keeping Children Safe
Regina Transit and the SafeBus

Public Service Announcement

The Regina Transit SafeBus program provides a safe haven for anyone who is in need of help. Parents should remind their children if they are lost, cold, frightened, hurt or in trouble, they can flag down a Regina Transit bus, or get on at any bus stop. Trained transit personnel are always ready to help. If they need to, they have direct 911 access and can ask for assistance.

Children who are asking for help DO NOT need money to get on a SafeBus.

If a child requires assistance, they should stay on the sidewalk and hold their hand up in the direction of the approaching bus with the palm facing out. The operator will recognize this as a sign of distress and stop to help. Many children like to wave at the bus as it passes by. For this reason, parents are encouraged to teach their children the difference between a simple wave, and a call of distress.

If you have a question or would like more information about the SafeBus program call
777-7814.

Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region - Parent Mentoring Program

Parent Mentors Needed
The Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region’s Parent Mentoring Program is currently seeking volunteers with parenting experience to mentor parents who are motivated to parent well, but have little parenting background and few good supports.  The program provides services to parents of various ages, who are parenting young children and desire information and support to help them develop their parenting skills.  Volunteers are matched with parents to offer friendship, support, assistance and advice.  Relationships are established through personal visits and group activities.  Mentors are screened and training is provided.  If you are interested in helping another parent by mentoring, please contact the Parent Mentoring Program Coordinator at
